Our president was Paul Insinga, our VP and show chair was Paul Pesile, our secretary was David Zatz, and our treasurer was Ken Hartos.

Our first event of the season was a nicely hosted outing to the Behnke Bergen County Museum, led by Fred Behnke. Our second was the St. Patrick’s Day Parade (video and pics.)

Bergen Pines

One June 8, the Rusty Relics brought eight cars out to the Bergen New Bridge Medical Center for the patients and staff.

The social director cleverly set up a moving show: all the cars took two spins around the circle. After that, each owner made a brief talk about his car, and then the patients who wanted a closer look either walked or were helped over to the cars.

Barrier Free Show

The Relics attended the Bergenfield Barrier Free Show and then went to Pete's house for a meeting and refreshments (thanks, Pete, for playing last-minute host).

car show cars

The Relics, with most of one row of cars, had the highest attendance of any club. This year, the show attracted around 75 cars, a respectable number. With two food vendors, people could get a good burger or a dog, or an empanada; drinks included water, soda, and cold mango juice.

more cars

The variety of cars included front and rear wheel drive, base models and luxury, and front and rear engines, cooled with antifreeze and air. It was quite a mix.

ars

Some cars had their trunks and hoods open. Mark's Porsche, with its classic rear engine design, has its engine cover open.

runks

There were many spectators, some of whom got personal introductions to the cars.

Moving on to the post-show meeting, we had a reasonably good turnout...

... and it turned out two members and the club had won trophies. Paul's was the ambulance corps' best of show.

July 4 parades

Despite the heat, Oradell and River Edge held their parades as usual, and the Relics were there, as usual, with ten cars at Oradell and five at River Edge (some drivers did not appear due to the heat). These photos are from Pete Doll.

Memorial Day Parades

The weather was somewhat overcast but it didn’t rain for the Rochelle Park and Bergenfield parades. No such luck earlier in the morning, and we lost Oakland, Harrington Park, and New Milford to the rain—all three were canceled. Crowds were light for the surviving parades despite the quite nice weather.
