2025 Show: Rusty Relics at Allegro of Harrington Park
September brought perfect weather for the Allegro Harrington Park show. The senior center (with independent and assisted living, and memory care) is in a wooded area by the reservoir, a fine setting. The Rusty Relics had choice places in the shade.
Some quite rare cars showed up, including a “1 of 32 made / 1 of 18 surviving” air-cooled Franklin, shown between the people below, being the center of attention.
There were not one but two white 1960s Corvettes, one year apart, one belong to a Rusty Relic and one from a different club.
The Allegro people directed traffic and had plenty of food for coffee and lunch alike. They were hospitable and well organized, and this year many of the residents came out to look and talk about the cars. The Franklin can be seen more easily below, next to the yellow Plymouth Belvedere; these two cars took second and third place.
Here are three cars built from the same basic body, carrying three different engines (340, 318, 225):
The buckets were for placing “popular choice” tickets.
A number of mostly-imported cars lined the back row, in the shade of the trees:
Rusty Relics arranged for reserved spaces; you can see the reservoir through the trees in this photo. (Two members’ cars parked separately are in the inset.)
The overall winning car was this Amphicar, which is, as the owner described it, the best car on the water, and the best boat on the road. The British-engined German cars were only made for two years; model years were assigned when they were sold (this one was a 1967, probably made around six years earlier).
